I have always enjoyed writing and for the most part, I have considered it one of my strengths. I, however, am better with content creation and organization of articles rather than the smaller details of grammar and structure. For the most part, I know the basics but there are times where I miss a comma or start a run on sentence.
Ever since I started in the professional world, Grammarly has become a staple for me. I relied on it to catch my mistakes while writing emails to potential employers or while reaching out to my professors. Now, as someone who relies on writing for income, it has become crucial to get things right. I do have a human editor (my lovely sister, Amanda) but I still try to catch everything I can and make an article the best it can before I send it off to be looked over.
As a blogger and a freelance writer, Grammarly has become important in my creative process. Now, let's find out if it will benefit you!

How to use Grammarly
There are a few ways you can use Grammarly. My favorite is to install the free browser extension which is available for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. You can also copy and paste English text into Grammarly's Editor on the website. When you add the extension, however, you can avoid this step and have this powerful editing tool at your disposal without having to copy and paste.
Free vs Premium
You can use Grammarly for free but to unlock the true power of the tool you have to shell out some cash. For the free version, you will get altered for critical spelling and grammatical errors. If you opt-in for the Premium plan you gain access to over 400 types of checks and features. This includes advanced checks for punctuation, grammar, context, and sentence structure, vocabulary suggestions, style checks and suggestions, and plagiarism detection. You also get Microsoft word capabilities with Premium for Windows users!
Prices
Perfection and growth come at a cost. I personally think with the results people see with their writing after using Grammarly is worth the price.
Monthly- $29.95 per month
Quarterly- $19.98 per month
Annual- $11.66 per month (BEST VALUE!)
How it can help you
If everything I have already said did not convince you to check out Grammarly... here are some stats from their site!
76% of Grammarly users find writing more enjoyable
99% of students improved their writing grades
85% of users are now stronger writers
Will this replace your editing process?
If you cannot tell, I really like Grammarly. You do need to consider that this will not replace your own editing or help from another human editor. Computers are great, but you do need to keep screening your own work and I recommend having a least one other person comb through your work. Although Grammarly is helpful, it does not replace editing time of your own. Take this into consideration if you are thinking about purchasing the Premium plan.
Is it worth it?
As someone who writes a lot, it is totally worth it. If you, however, do not find yourself writing much except emails choose the free version to catch minor mistakes. I hope this helped! If you have any questions, please let me know. Click here to head to the Grammarly site to check it out!
