It has been killing me that I have not been able to write a home inspired post in a while. I have been wracking my brain and trying to come up with a way to talk about design without rehashing what I have done before. Since I have been moving like crazy, I haven’t been able to make any of the spaces mine and only have with me what fits in my car!
This post is a friendly reminder of how important nesting and making a space truly yours is. Even when it seems impossible (trust me I know that feeling, I had to leave a lot behind in this last move) work to incorporate a few things that make at least one room in your place truly yours.
For me this manifests with plants. Sadly, I had to leave about 20 indoor plants with my mom (yes, I know I have a problem) but I made a point to bring two with me. Having my little cacti and my Golden Pothos in my room makes the space feel more welcoming and homey to me.
Another simple way to incorporate you into the space is through pictures and posters. I have my favorite picture of my siblings and I that I framed sitting in my room. Printing photos is an affordable and easy way to get some love into the room. If I had more room in my car I would have brought my movie posters. I came by these while working at a movie theater, but theaters often give out posters for free each month. Make sure you check with your local theater to see if you can get some awesome (and free!!) décor. They take up a lot of space on a wall and are a nice touch in terms of personality.
You have to have bedding so make sure that it inspires you and brings your own unique flare to your room!
Lastly, bring a mug that is meaningful to you so every morning cup of joe or every evening tea or hot chocolate you have that reminder. I only brought one mug with me to Boston (it was hard to choose) but I landed on one I got from my Grandparents. It reminds me of home and the memories we made there.
In my Quick 2018 Trends post I explained why it is important to have inspiring spaces and this is true even if it’s just making sure you have that ONE thing in your space that adds meaning.
How do you make your home inspiring?
As always, thanks for visiting. Have a lovely day!
